Solar Panels
Save with the sun by using solar panels to power electric appliances in your home. Whether you thinking of switching to solar or looking to get the most out of your existing system, read on to learn about how rooftop solar can help you save on energy - and help the environment.
How solar works
- Solar PV panels convert the sun’s radiation into DC electricity
- An inverter then converts this DC electricity into useable AC electricity to feed into the house
- The smart meter measures energy used and any excess created
- The excess energy is sent back to the grid
Solar Rebates
Solar panel rebates of up to $1,400 plus the option of an interest-free loan are available for existing homes and homes under construction.
The solar homes program provides rebates of up to $1,400 towards the installation of solar panel (PV) systems. These rebates are offered to Victorians with existing homes, homes under construction, and rental properties. Eligible customers who have previously received a rebate and have moved house can also apply.
To further reduce installation costs, eligible Victorians can apply for an interest-free loan for an amount equivalent to their rebate amount. The loan is required to be repaid over four years or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.
Tier 1 Panels
Choosing quality parts and components, and a reputable retailer and installer, will ensure you have a system that serves your household for many years to come.
To get the most out of your system it needs to be planned and installed properly. A well-designed system can help lower your household bills as much as possible, helping you to get the most benefit out of the system.
Why install Solar?
Quality solar panels last at least 25 years, so that initial investment should repay several times over compared with the cost of buying electricity from the grid over a that 25 year period.
Many homes missing out on the benefits of a solar electricity system that can take advantage of the Solar Homes rebate to help fund a new system. With a Solar PV rebate, a system could pay back within three and five years.
